  • 2 lb. beef, cut up for stew
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 4 small onions
  • 4 small carrots
  • 4 small potatoes
  • 1 c. sliced celery
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 can water

    Sprinkle beef with flour mixed with seasonings.

    Toss with oil in a 3-quart casserole.

    Bake, uncovered, at 400° for 30 minutes. Stir once.

    Add vegetables, salt and pepper.

    Pour tomato sauce and water over all.

    Cover; bake at 350° for 1 hour and 45 minutes.
