- 2 gal. cucumbers, sliced thin
- 1 pt. salt
- 1 gal. water
- 2 Tbsp. powdered alum
- 1/2 gal. vinegar
- 8 pt. sugar
- 3/4 box pickling spice
Directions

1Cover cucumbers with salt and 1 gallon boiling water.

2Stir each day for 7 days.

3Drain and with 1 gallon boiling water and 2 tablespoons powdered alum, let stand 24 hours.

4Drain and mix in vinegar, sugar and pickling spices.

5Boil and pour over cucumbers. Let stand 4 days.

6Each day, drain off syrup and boil.

7Pour over cucumbers.

8Pack in jars.

9Pour hot syrup over pickles in jars, then seal.
