  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 c. shortening, margarine or butter
  • 1 1/4 c. sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 3 eggs, reserve white of one egg for frosting

Directions

    Mix ingredients and bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes in a rectangular pan.

    Boil one cup of sugar in a little water until it boils and threads.
  3. 3
    Beat egg white until stiff and fold into sugar.

    Beat until stiff.

    Spread on cake.
