  • 1 small yellow onion
  • 8 oz. mushrooms
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 12 oz. large uncooked shelled shrimp
  • 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 2 tsp. paprika
  • 3/4 c. dry white wine
  • 3/4 c. half and half
  • 1/2 c. sour cream
  • 4 to 6 drops hot red pepper sauce
  • salt to taste
  • parsley sprigs (optional)
  • cooked long grain white rice (optional)

    Chop onion and slice mushrooms.

    In a large skillet, melt butter over moderately high heat.

    Add shrimp and saute until they turn pink, about 2 minutes.
