Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 c. sifted cake flour
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. Wesson oil
  • 5 unbeaten egg yolks
  • 3/4 c. cold water
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. egg whites (7 to 8)
  • 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar

Directions

    Mix together the first 4 ingredients.

    Mix together the oil, egg yolks, cold water and vanilla.

    Beat the egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff and then fold into the first mixtures.

    Bake at 325° for 55 minutes and then increase oven to 350° for 10 to 15 minutes. Bake in tube pan.
