Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 1 Tbsp. parsley flakes
  • 1/3 c. red wine
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 4 eggs, slightly beaten and separated
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 4 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 3/4 c. milk
  • 3/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 c. elbow macaroni, cooked and drained

Directions

    Brown together beef, onion and garlic.

    Add spices, tomato sauce and wine.

    Bring to a boil, stirring in one egg. Melt butter.

    Stir in flour and add 1 1/2 cup milk and cook until thick.

    Add salt and pepper to taste.

    Gradually stir into 2 beaten eggs and add 1/2 the cheese. Mix macaroni with remaining eggs, milk and cheese.

    Layer macaroni and meat mixtures in an 8-inch pan.

    Sprinkle with extra cinnamon, if desired.

    Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.
