  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 1 egg, unbeaten
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

    Sift first 4 ingredients.

    Add shortening, egg, milk and vanilla.

    Beat for 3 minutes.

    Pour into lightly greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan and bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes.
