  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. white corn syrup
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. raw Spanish peanuts
  • 1 tsp. butter
  • 2 tsp. soda (heaping)
  • dash of salt

Directions

    Cook sugar, corn syrup and water together to 250° or to hard ball stage.

    Add butter and peanuts; continue cooking until syrup is golden brown and quite brittle when put in cold water.

    Stir constantly to keep peanuts from sticking or burning.

    Remove from heat; stir in vanilla and soda.

    Stir quickly until it foams up. Pour out on well oiled surface.

    When it has cooled, turn over and stretch thin.
