- 2/3 c. hot water
- 1/2 c. white syrup
- 1 1/2 c. white sugar
- 1/16 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 3/4 lb. Spanish peanuts
Directions

1Mix water, sugar, syrup and salt in a saucepan, stirring until sugar is dissolved.

2Bring to a boil; boil for 3 minutes. Continue cooking until syrup takes on a rich caramel color at 320°.

3Have peanuts spread out on a 12 x 12 x 19-inch buttered shallow enamel ware pan, a marble slab or an enamel kitchen top. When candy gets to 320° stir in butter and soda.

4Stir well and quickly pour out on peanuts.

5Let cool and break.
