Peanut Brittle

Ingredients

  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 2 c. white Karo
  • 2 sticks oleo
  • 2 c. raw peanuts
  • Pinch of salt

Directions

    Blend well and stir constantly over burner until thermometer reaches 310° or hard crack mark on candy thermometer.

    Remove from burner, stirring constantly, and add one heaping teaspoon baking soda and 2 tsp. vanilla.

    Stir briskly until thoroughly blended. Pour mixture on to a buttered cookie sheet or buttered foil. Allow to cool until tacky to touch.

    Dump and stretch with hands. Allow to cool completely, then crack with back of big spoon.
