- 10 c. cornflakes
- 2 c. salted Spanish peanuts
- 1 c. light corn syrup
- 1/2 c. brown sugar (packed)
- 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- 2 Tbsp. water
- 1 c. chunky peanut butter
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 c. chocolate bits
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
Directions

1Combine cornflakes and peanuts in large lightly buttered heat-proof mixing bowl.

2Place in slow oven (250°) for 5 to 8 minutes.

3Mix sugars, syrup and water.

4Place over medium heat and let mixture come to full boil.

5Remove from heat. Stir in peanut butter and butter.

6Place over low heat until mixture comes to a gentle boil to center of pan.

7Stir constantly.

8Pour hot mixture over warmed cornflakes and nuts.

9Mix well.

10Turn into buttered 9 x 13-inch pan.

11Press down firmly.

12Melt chocolate bits and shortening over hot water in a double boiler.

13Cool slightly and spread over cereal mixture.

14Cool in fridge until chocolate sets.
