  • 1 1/4 c. granulated brown sugar
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. butter-flavored vegetable shortening
  • 3/4 c. chunky peanut butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 c. (6 oz. pkg.) chocolate bits
  • 1 c. salted peanuts

Directions

    Preheat oven to 350°.

    Mix sugar, salt, butter and peanut butter.

    Beat eggs into mixture.

    Sift together flour and soda. Blend into sugar mixture.

    Stir in chocolate bits and peanuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake 9 minutes or until light brown around edges.

    Cool on rack. Yields 9 dozen cookies.
