Peanut Patties

  • 2 1/4 c. sugar
  • 2/3 c. white Karo syrup
  • 1 c. evaporated milk (Milnot)
  • 2 c. raw peanuts or pecans (for pralines)

    Put ingredients in large pan.

    Bring to a boil.

    Then just as it starts boiling, turn fire down very low (just bubbling).

    Time for 1 hour, stirring about every 10 or 15 minutes.

    Take off fire and add 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1 teaspoon butter and red food color to make pink for peanut patties (none for pralines).

    Beat until creamy (I just keep stirring until it gets kind of sticky), about 10 or 15 minutes.

    By spoonfuls, make patties on waxed or foil paper.

    They will have to set several hours before they get hard. (I leave mine overnight.)
