Ingredients
- 2 qt. pears, sliced or chopped
- 3 c. water or juice
- 4 1/2 c. sugar
- 6 slices lemon (optional)
Directions

1Pare fruit (if hard, cook until tender in water).

2Make syrup of liquid and sugar; add fruit to partly cooled syrup and bring gently to boil.

3Add lemon.

4Boil rapidly until clear and tender. Let stand in syrup to cool.

5Reheat syrup to boiling.

6Pour fruit and boiling syrup into jars within 1/2 inch from top.

7Put caps, screw lids firmly tight.

8Process in boiling water bath 10 minutes. Yields 10 (8 ounce) jars.
