Ingredients

  • 16 c. peeled, sliced pears
  • 4 c. sugar
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 c. water

Directions

    In large pot, simmer all ingredients over medium heat approximately 45 minutes, until pears are tender and syrup is thick.

    Ladle into hot sterilized jars to 1/4-inch from top.

    Boil lids and seal.

    Process 5 minutes in boiling water bath, if desired.

    Makes 4 1/2 pints (9 cups).
