  • 1/2 c. soft butter
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. cornstarch
  • 2 1/2 c. sifted flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 5 egg whites
  • pinch of salt

Directions

    Cream butter and sugar.

    Sift cornstarch with flour 4 times. Resift with baking powder and add little by little to butter and sugar, stirring and blending.

    Add milk and vanilla and beat well. Fold in egg whites, stiffly beaten with salt.

    Bake in medium sized loaf cake pan at 325° for about 40 minutes.

    When cool, cut in squares.
