- 1/2 c. soft butter
- 2 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. cornstarch
- 2 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 5 egg whites
- pinch of salt
Directions

1Cream butter and sugar.

2Sift cornstarch with flour 4 times. Resift with baking powder and add little by little to butter and sugar, stirring and blending.

3Add milk and vanilla and beat well. Fold in egg whites, stiffly beaten with salt.

4Bake in medium sized loaf cake pan at 325° for about 40 minutes.

5When cool, cut in squares.
