- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. butter flavor Crisco
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 3 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. cream of tartar
- 3/4 c. low-fat buttermilk
- 1/2 c. finely chopped pecans
Directions

1Heat oven to 375°.

2Grease baking sheet with butter flavor Crisco.

3Combine sugar, Crisco and vanilla in a large bowl.

4Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until blended and crumbly. Combine flour, baking soda and cream of tartar.

5Add to creamed mixture alternating with buttermilk, mixing thoroughly after each addition at low speed. Stir in nuts with a spoon. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto baking sheet 2-inches apart.

6Bake at 375° for 9 to 11 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool 2 minutes on baking sheet before removing to rack.

7Makes 5 dozen.
