  • 1 stick butter or margarine
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 c. plain flour (not sifted)
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. broken pecans

    Soften butter.

    Beat in sugar, egg, soda, cream of tartar and flour.

    Add nuts.

    Mix by hand.

    Divide in two parts.

    Roll in wax paper and freeze.

    Cut thin slices and bake 10 minutes at 350°. Remove from pan right away.
