  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 1/2 tsp. coarse pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. buttermilk

Directions

    Cut together flour, baking powder and shortening.

    Mix pepper, salt and butter; then add to first mixture.

    Flour hands.

    Roll in hands to form biscuits.

    Pat tops slightly to flatten.

    Put on greased tray.

    Bake on 2nd rack at 450° or 500° for 8 to 10 minutes, until tops are browned.
