Ingredients

  • 1 lb. beef chuck or round steak, cut in thin strips
  • 1/4 c. cooking oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 1 c. green pepper, cut in 1-inch strips
  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 1/2 c. chopped celery
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch plus 1 c. water
  • 2 tomatoes or 1 large can tomatoes

    Brown meat in hot oil.

    Add garlic and cook until yellow.

    Add soy sauce, salt and 1/4 cup water.

    Cook for 45 minutes.

    Add vegetables.

    Cook 10 minutes.

    Stir in cornstarch mixed with 1 cup water.

    Add tomatoes and cook for 5 minutes.
