Ingredients
- 1 cup Butter, do not substitute
- 1/2 cup Powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/4 tsp Peppermint extract
- 4 each Drops of red food coloring
- 2 cup All purpose flour
- 1/4 cup Cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup Powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup Crushed candy canes or peppermint candies
- 1 tsp Cream or milk
Directions

1Beat the butter, powdered sugar, salt, coloring & peppermint extract.

2Mix in the flour.

3Using hands to form a cohesive dough ball.

4Cut the dough into 4 equal parts.

5Roll each quarter of the dough into a 12 inch rope and place on a cookie sheet.

6Make an indentation down the center of each piece, but be careful not to go to the bottom.

7Bake the cookies at 325 for 20 minutes.

8Do not let brown.

9While cookies are baking, mix the filling and place in a piping bag or ziplock bag and have ready for when the cookies are done.

10Let cookies cool for only a minute or 2, then pipe the filling evenly down the center well of each piece.

11Let cookies cool completely on the pan and cut into equal size pieces.
