Peppermint Pound Cake

  • 3 sticks butter
  • 2/3 c. sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 6 small sticks peppermint candy, crushed into powder

Directions

    Cream butter and sugar.

    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.

    Add flour and baking powder alternately with milk; beat well after each addition.

    Add vanilla; beat.

    Pour 1/3 of batter and crushed candy in separate bowl; stir well.

    Pour 1/2 of remaining batter into well-greased and floured tube pan.

    Add peppermint batter, then add remaining batter on top of peppermint batter.

    Bake at 300° for 1 1/2 hours, or as your oven cooks. Turn out onto wire rack to cool.

    A chocolate frosting on cake goes great with taste of peppermint.
