Peppy Clam Shells

  • 1/2 c. finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 c. finely chopped celery
  • 1/2 c. finely chopped green pepper
  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 Tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • dash of pepper
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • dash of hot pepper sauce
  • 1/2 c. crushed round crackers (12)
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 (10 oz.) can whole baby clams

Directions

    In medium skillet, cook onion, celery and green pepper in 4 tablespoons butter until tender but not brown.

    Stir in flour, cheese and seasonings.

    Add 1/4 cup cracker crumbs; mix well. Stir in undrained clams; cook until mixture thickens.

    Divide among 4 large baking shells.

    Combine the rest of the crumbs and butter; sprinkle on top.

    Bake in a 350° oven for 15 minutes.
