  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. mashed persimmon pulp
  • 2 to 2 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. powdered cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 egg

    Cream sugar and shortening.

    Add unbeaten egg and vanilla; cream again.

    Sift and add dry ingredients together.

    Mix with the shortening and egg mixture.

    Add nuts and bake as drop cookies about 10 minutes in a 350° to 375° oven.
