Ingredients
- beets (as many pounds as you are going to make)
- onions (white or yellow)
- cane sugar
- quality vinegar (full 5% acetic acid such as Heinz or another old trusted name. Don't buy a bargain vinegar, the results will not be the same!)
Directions

1Trim top and bottom of beets and wash dirt off of them.

2Put beets in a large enough soup pot so they can be covered with water. Bring beets to a boil.

3Boil beets for 60 minutes.

4Pick out one of the biggest beets and cut in half to determine if all of them are well done inside.

5If they are not, boil for another 10 minutes and check again.

6Repeat this process until the beets are done.
