- 4 qt. pears, cut in quarters
- 2 lb. sugar (preferably brown)
- 3 or 4 sticks cinnamon
- few cloves
- 1 1/2 pt. vinegar
Directions

1Make a syrup with the sugar, vinegar and cinnamon.

2Cook them together for 20 minutes.

3Cook pears in syrup until tender, a few at a time.

4Put pears in jar; boil the syrup 10 minutes longer, then pour over pears and seal.
