  • 2 sticks butter or margarine
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 8 Tbsp. Crisco (not heaping)
  • 3 c. flour (White Lily plain)
  • 1 small can evaporated Pet milk
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla

    Preheat oven to 350°.

    Let eggs and butter get to room temperature.

    Cream Crisco, butter and sugar together.

    Add eggs one at a time.

    Alternately add flour, milk, lemon juice and vanilla.

    Make 4 (9-inch) layers and bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
