  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1/3 c. milk
  • 1/3 c. melted shortening or salad oil
  • 1 small can crushed pineapple
  • 1 c. chopped dates
  • 3 c. sifted flour
  • 1/2 c. walnuts
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 3/4 tsp. salt

Directions

    Combine egg, milk, shortening, pineapple, nuts and dates.

    Add the sifted dry ingredients and mix just enough to moisten.

    Bake in a greased and floured 9 1/2 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan at 350° for 55 minutes.
