- 1/2 c. butter
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 eggs, separated
- 1 1/2 c. flour, sifted
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Cream the butter and sugar at high speed until well mixed. Add beaten egg yolks and mix well.

2Sift together the flour, baking soda and cream of tartar; add alternately with the milk to the mixture.

3Add vanilla and beat at medium speed for 2 minutes. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form.

4Fold into batter.
