Ingredients

  • 1 bag pinto beans (small size)
  • ham hock or salt pork
  • 1 onion
  • 2 Tbsp. garlic powder
  • water (to cover beans)

Directions

    Wash beans and place in pot with enough water to cover beans. Let them come to a boil. Turn off.

    Let beans soak in pot for at least 6 hours. Add water to cover beans completely and let come to a boil.

    Cook on low heat for 2 hours.
  4. 4
    Add ham hock or salt pork, onion and garlic.
  5. 5
    Let beans cook for 2 more hours.
