- 1 bag pinto beans (small size)
- ham hock or salt pork
- 1 onion
- 2 Tbsp. garlic powder
- water (to cover beans)
Directions

1Wash beans and place in pot with enough water to cover beans. Let them come to a boil. Turn off.

2Let beans soak in pot for at least 6 hours. Add water to cover beans completely and let come to a boil.

3Cook on low heat for 2 hours.

4Add ham hock or salt pork, onion and garlic.

5Let beans cook for 2 more hours.
