Polish Cabbage Rolls

- 1 large head of cabbage
- 2 1/2 lbs. hamburger
- 1/2 lb. ground pork
- 1 onion
- 1 qt. sauerkraut
- salt and pepper
- tomato sauce or fresh tomatoes
Directions

1Saut hamburger, pork and onion.

2Season with salt and pepper and drain.

3In large kettle, boil cabbage (without the core) for 3-4 minutes.

4Let stand for 1/2 hour.

5Rinse with cold water and remove leaves.

6Roll meat mixture in cabbage leaves.

7Remove first 4 leaves and place 2 on the bottom of the large kettle.

8Layer 3/4 c. sauerkraut, then cabbage rolls and either tomato sauce or tomatoes over the top.

9Add 1 c. water.

10Put other 2 large leaves on top.

11Cover with plate and put small jar on top to hold plate down.

12Bring to boil and then turn heat to low.

13Cook 1-1 1/2 hours.
