Ingredients

  • 1 large bowl popped corn
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. butter
  • 1/4 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. flavoring (your choice)
  • food coloring (if desired)

Directions

    Remove all unpopped kernels from the bowl of popped corn.

    In a saucepan, mix together sugar, syrup and cream of tartar.

    Bring it to a boil and cook without stirring to a hard cook test or 242° on a candy thermometer.

    Add butter, soda, flavoring and coloring if desired.

    Pour quickly over the popped corn.

    Stir with a wooden spoon and then mold into large firm balls in the palms of your hands.

    Place on waxed paper to dry.

    You may make a face on the popcorn ball by using bits of cherry or raisins for eyes and mouths.

    They will look more attractive if covered with clear cellophane.
