  • 3/4 c. poppy seed
  • 1 c. milk
  • 3/4 c. butter
  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • pinch of salt

Directions

    Soak poppy seed in milk overnight.

    Cream butter and sugar. Add poppy seed and milk, then flour and vanilla last.

    Beat 3 minutes and fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.

    Bake in 3 layers in a 375° oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
