Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp. salad oil
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 sliced onion
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 1 tsp. thyme
- 1 tsp. marjoram
- 1 bay leaf, crumbled
- 8 black peppercorns
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 can beef broth, beer, wine or tomato juice (I use 1 can beer)
Directions

1Wipe meat with paper towel.

2Over medium heat, brown meat in oil and butter all over, about 25 minutes.

3While browning, towards the end, add onion (roast and push to the side).

4Add all spices and salt; stir for about 1/2 minute.

5Then add liquid; bring to a boil.

6Reduce to simmer 2 1/2 to 3 hours, covered; turn occasionally.

7Do this roast on top of stove.
