- 1 pkg. dry yeast (RapidRise)
- 1/2 c. hot mashed potatoes
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. scalded milk
- 1 egg
- 4 to 4 1/2 c. sifted flour
Directions

1Combine potatoes, shortening, sugar, salt and hot milk.

2Cool until lukewarm.

3Add egg and yeast.

4Stir in flour.

5Beat well. Knead on slightly floured surface until smooth and elastic.

6Place in lightly greased bowl, turning once to grease surface.

7Cover and let rise until double (about 1 hour).

8Punch down and let rise 10 minutes.

9Roll and cut into shape.

10Place on greased baking sheet. Cover and let rise until almost double (about 1 hour). Bake in hot oven at 400° for 10 to 12 minutes. Brush tops with butter.
