Potatoes Gratin

  • 2 cloves garlic, smashed
  • salt
  • 6 large waxy potatoes (like red bliss), thinly sliced
  • 2 cups half and half
  • 4T butter, room temperature
  • nutmeg, salt and pepper
  • 1 cup Gruyere, grated

Directions

    Preheat oven to 400.

    Coat 8x8 pan with butter.

    Put all ingredients except Gruyere in a pot and stir to coat potatoes. Bring to a boil over medium high heat, while stirring. After 8-10 minutes, mixture will thicken considerably. Transfer to pan and top with Gruyere.

    Bake 20-30 minutes until deep golden brown.

    Cool before serving
