- 1 c. Crisco
- 1/4 tsp. each: baking powder, salt and soda
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. lemon
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 4 eggs
Directions

1Cream the Crisco and sugar until light and fluffy.

2Add buttermilk and beat well.

3Add eggs. Sift the flour; measure baking powder, salt and soda.

4Sift together 3 or 4 times.

5Add flour all at once.

6Beat well.

7Add flavoring last.

8Bake at 300° to 325° for 1 hour; do not open oven.
