- 3 sticks butter
- 3 c. sugar
- 3 c. flour (plain)
- 1 c. milk
- 5 eggs
- 3 tsp. lemon or vanilla extract
- salt
Directions

1Cream the butter and sugar until creamy. Add sifted flour and salt alternately with milk, beating after each addition. Add eggs, one at a time. Beat well after each.

2Add flavoring and pour into greased and floured tube pan.

3Put into cold oven and turn to 300°.

4Bake for 1 1/2 hours.

5Do not open oven until cake is done.
