- 1 c. Wesson oil
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 3 eggs
- 2 c. plain all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. allspice
- 1/4 tsp. cloves
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 1/2 c. prunes, cooked and mashed with pits removed
- 1/2 c. nuts (optional)
Directions

1Cream Wesson oil and sugar.

2Add eggs and beat well.

3Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with buttermilk and prunes.

4(Do not use electric mixer.)

5Beat until well blended.

6Fold in chopped nuts, if desired.

7Pour into 9 x 13-inch cake pan which has been well-greased and floured.

8Bake at 350° for 30 minutes. Cool and add the Prune Cake Topping.
