Pumpkin Date Nut Bread

  • 2/3 c. butter or margarine
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 1/2 c. canned pumpkin
  • 2 1/3 c. sifted flour
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
  • 2/3 c. chopped pecans
  • 2/3 c. dates, cut up

    Cream butter and sugar gradually.

    Add eggs; beat well.

    Blend in water, pumpkin and sifted dry ingredients.

    Fold in pecans and dates.

    Pour into 2 greased 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch loaf pans. Bake 1 hour at 350°.
