Ingredients
- 1 cake yeast
- 1 pt. milk, scalded
- 4 egg yolks + 1 whole egg
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. salt
- about 7 c. flour
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in lukewarm milk.

2Add 2 cups flour.

3Mix and let stand in warm place 1/2 hour.

4Then beat eggs, sugar, vanilla and salt until light.

5Add this to the yeast sponge.

6Melt butter. Add to sponge.

7Add 5 cups flour.
-
8Mix well until hands are clean. Cover and allow dough to raise 1 hour.

9Turn on floured board and pat with hands until dough is 1/2-inch high.

10Cut with doughnut cutter, cover and let rise again.

11Then fry in hot oil.

12Use your favorite icing.
