Ingredients
- 2 c. Quaker oats (quick or old fashioned; uncooked)
- 1 c. all-purpose flour
- 3/4 c. margarine or butter, melted
- 1/3 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/3 c. chopped nuts
- 1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 (10 to 12 oz.) jar favorite fruit preserves
Directions

1Heat oven to 350°.

2Grease 11 x 7-inch glass baking dish. Combine all ingredients except preserves.

3Mix well.

4Reserve 3/4 cup of oats mixture and press remaining into bottom of prepared dish.

5Bake 10 minutes.

6Spread preserves evenly over partially baked base to within 1/2 inch of edge.

7Sprinkle reserved oats over mixture.

8Bake 20 minutes or until golden brown.

9Cool and cut into squares.

10Store tightly covered at room temperature.
