- 1 c. butter, softened
- 2 1/4 c. sugar
- 4 eggs
- 4 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. vanilla or lemon or almond extract
Directions

1Cream butter.

2Gradually add sugar, beating well on medium speed of mixer.

3Add eggs, beating well.

4Combine flour, baking powder, soda and nutmeg.

5Add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk.

6Mix well.

7Stir in extract.

8Drop dough by tablespoon onto greased cookie sheets.

9Bake at 375° for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.

10Cool.
