- 1 (18.5 oz.) box yellow cake mix
- 1 (16 oz.) can pitted red tart cherries
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. cornstarch
- 1/3 c. water
- 1/2 tsp. almond extract

1Preheat oven to 350°.

2Grease and flour a 13 x 9-inch pan. Prepare cake mix according to package directions; pour batter into pan.

3Drain cherries, reserving liquid.

4Place cherries on top of batter.

5Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
