- 1/3 c. Crisco or Wesson oil
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 1/2 c. self-rising cornmeal
- 1/2 c. self-rising flour
- 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 1/2 c. boiling water
Directions

1Preheat oven to 450°.

2Put Crisco or Wesson oil in iron skillet and heat in hot oven or use 13 x 9-inch aluminum pan.

3Beat eggs in small bowl, adding sugar.

4Put cornmeal, flour and buttermilk in mixing bowl.

5Stir, mixing thoroughly.

6Add hot oil and stir in well.

7Add boiling water.
-
8Mix well (batter will be thin).
