- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1 Tbsp. melted shortening
- 1 egg (unbeaten)
- 5 to 6 c. melted shortening or Crisco (for cooking)
Directions

1Sift flour into waxed paper; measure.

2Add baking powder, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon; sift again.

3Measure sugar, milk and oil or shortening into small bowl of electric mixer.

4Add egg; beat about 1 minute at medium speed, or use hand beater until well mixed.

5Add flour to mixture all at once; beat at low speed about 1 minute, or stir until well mixed.

6Drop 5 spoonfuls of batter, approximately 1 teaspoon each, into fat at 365° temperature.

7cook for 3 to 5 minutes, or until browned, turning several times.
