Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour (self-rising can be used, omit the soda)
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk (sweet milk can be used)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. soda

Directions

    Mix flour and sugar together in large bowl.

    Place margarine, shortening, cocoa and water in a saucepan.

    Bring to a rapid boil; stirring constantly.

    Pour into flour mixture.

    Mix well.

    Add the remaining ingredients, saving the soda until last; mix well.

    The sooner you get the cake into the oven after adding the soda, the better the cake.

    Pour into greased 11 x 16-inch pan.

    Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
