Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. warm water
  • 4 c. flour
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 1 pkg. yeast (which has been dissolved in 1/4 cup warm water)

Directions

    Beat egg; add sugar, shortening, yeast, salt and flour (add flour slowly).

    Let rise in greased pan until double in bulk. Make into rolls; let rise again.

    Gently oil tops of rolls before they are put in oven to bake.

    After 25 minutes, watch carefully. Take out when browned as desired.

    Bake in 350° oven approximately 25 to 30 minutes.

    May oil with butter again.
