- 2 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 2 onions, peeled and chopped
- 1 clove garlic, peeled and crushed
- 1 tsp. oregano
- 1 bay leaf, crushed
- 1/8 tsp. basil
- 1/2 tsp. powdered savory
- 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
- 2 Tbsp. light brown sugar
- 2 (1 lb. 13 oz.) cans tomatoes
- 2 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste
- salt and pepper
- 1 lb. thin spaghetti, cooked
- grated Parmesan cheese
Directions

1Heat olive oil in large skillet and lightly brown meat.

2Add onion, garlic, oregano, bay leaf, basil, savory, nutmeg and light brown sugar; simmer 3 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

3Add tomatoes and tomato paste and simmer, stirring now and then for 25 to 30 minutes.

4Add salt and pepper to taste and slowly cook 5 minutes more.

5Serve sauce over spaghetti cooked by package directions and well drained.

6Makes about 6 servings.
