Ingredients

  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 1/2 lb. margarine
  • 4 tsp. salt
  • 3 whole eggs
  • 4 Tbsp. sour cream (heaping)
  • 2 boxes raisins
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 can water
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 5 lb. flour
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 4 oz. yeast
  • 1 c. walnuts
  • 1 Tbsp. cinnamon

Directions

    Heat evaporated milk and water until scalded, then mix in margarine, sugar and salt.

    Combine whole eggs, yolks, sour cream and yeast and mix with warm milk mixture; mix well.

    Make a well in the flour and pour in the liquid.

    Add in raisins, walnuts, sugar and cinnamon.

    Knead well.

    Put in greased bowl and set aside to let rise.

    When double in size, punch down and let rise again.

    When raised again, cut into 5 loaves; let rise again. Then bake at 325° for 30 minutes.
